IDEMITSU Honda SK 69 racing team adds one more podium in PS165cc class of Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2021.

As the action on Day 1 of second round of MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2021 reached its peak, the IDEMITSU Honda SK69 racing team snapped one more podium in Pro-Stock 165cc category.

Starting from first on the grid, Rajiv Sethu was pushed back to second in first lap. In neck-to-neck battle for victory, Rajiv overtook his rival and reached at top place in Lap 3 but lost the hold in final lap with a minor gap of 0.046 seconds. With total time of 11:46.778, Rajiv Sethu finished 2ndNot only did Rajiv Sethu clinched the second place, he also recorded the fastest ever lap of 1:56.005 in the history of Pro-Stock 165cc category. On the other hand, Senthil Kumar closed the race on 5th place, progressing 2 places from his 7th place start on the grid.

Talking about the performance of riders in Round 2 race 1, Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj, Senior Vice President - Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India. Pvt. Ltd. said, “All the races today showed us the undying and relentless spirit that our riders possess. Their power packed performances and the zeal to claim the top spots was evident across categories. Rajiv Sethu has come of age and his new record of fastest ever lap time of 1:56.005 in PS165cc class in today’s race is a testimony to that. Our young guns too have set the pace for final races tomorrow after putting up stellar performances in today’s race across NSF250R & CBR150R classes of Talent Cup. We are excited to see what they get on track tomorrow and are optimistic about the results.”

Newly introduced Honda Hornet 2.0 One Make Race

Providing a platform to racing enthusiasts across the country to get a hands-on experience on racetrack, Honda 2Wheelers India introduced Honda Hornet 2.0 One Make Race. Gaining popularity, the category received entries from 52 veteran riders in round 2 out of which 26 riders were shortlisted and finally 15 riders qualified to battle it out on the racetrack.

Post today’s qualifying race, the experienced rider Kevin Kannan started off from third position on the grid and jumped to first place in lap 1 of race 1. Thereafter, Kevin maintained his lead till the end, stopping the clock at 13:26.735. In a highly competitive race, Chennai’s Alwin Sundar and Coimbatore’s Rajkumar C crossed the chequered line at 2nd and 3rd place respectively, having a difference of merely 0.101 seconds in their total time.

While Thrissur’s Anfal A who missed the podium by just 0.136 seconds, clocked the best lap of 2:12.339 in today’s race.

IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup – NSF 250R & CBR150R categories

The exciting race of IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup NSF250R category saw Chennai’s Kavin Quintal solidifying his leadership with three consecutive wins after today’s race. Displaying finesse in his riding, Kavin was closely behind Pune’s Sarthak Chavan till last lap, who ultimately lapped back hone with total time of 11:08.113. Though leading the race till last lap, it was the unfortunate jump start by Pune rider Sarthak Chavan that got him a 15 seconds penalty thus placing him at third place and Mohsin P at second place on the podium.

The race 1 of IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup CBR150R category round 2 was jam packed with action today. Despite having a tough start in today’s, 17-year-old Prakash Kamat dominated the race 1 by overpowering others with a massive lead of 9.066 seconds and secured his first victory of 2021 season (Total time 13:14.859). Following him back home was Pune’s Shubhankar Joshi who after his 6th position start steered up, thus grabbing his maiden podium finish. Joining them on podium is Chennai’s Johann Reeves Emmanuel who lapped back home at third.
